The Minister for Health and Aging Tanya Plibersek, MP has declined to approve the application for a pharmacy at the Hackett shops. Rhonda Warne the pharmacist is seeking a Statement of Reasons from the Minister which will take around 28 days so that we can ascertain the exact rationale for the Minister’s decision. Discussions with her Department indicate that the Minister concluded that it was not “unreasonable” for the residents of Hackett not to have a pharmacy because they had reasonable access to nearby pharmacies.
The Hackett Community Association is very disappointed with this decision as we are very keen to ensure that our less mobile and older residents are afforded ready access to quality health care. We are also keen to increase community interaction through the invigoration of the shopping centre and the addition of a pharmacy is a key aspect of that vision.
